Faux Lesbian Dating Sites

At least one of these girls squealed "eewww" after this photo was taken.

I have been spending wasting Way too much time on Facebook. I have tried to cut down the number of applications that I have so I can get in and out quickly, but I still break down and add more, and more, applications that save the rain forest, and animals, and clean water, and feed people, and fight cancer, and fund research, and stop abuse, and help survivors, it goes on and on. I feel it's the least I can do, but it's really the most I can do, and then some. If I had a full time job right now, there wouldn't be enough hours in the day. That being said, I would like to share an annoying feature of facebook with you.

Facebook knows my sexual orientation, so I am bombarded with these adds constantly. And to be honest, I'm a bit hard pressed to understand who the actual target of these adds is.

Since these are not lesbians, one has to think they are going for straight men. There are several of these on facebook that are advertising a lesbian dating site. I'm thinking the entire website is full of nothing but straight men all pretending to be lesbians! It's really pretty funny when you think about it!

I would love to be a fly on the wall in this dating site just to read some of the emails and see the pictures that all these men are sending each other in the hopes of finding a hot bi-sexual woman who'll consent to sleep with the fake lesbian straight guy and his wife, once he somehow breaks the news to her that he's not a lesbian, and then talks his wife into it. Little does he know, the hot bi-sexual woman is also a straight guy trying to get hooked up in a threesome with two women. Wow! Even I'm confused. The one thing I'm not confused about is the sexuality of the "lesbians" in the photos. Yes, there are feminine lesbians, but please, don't insult me, or my gaydar!

snicker...that goes double for the sites you have to PAY for just to end up with a fake lesbian male type person...lol

It is difficult for me to understand how someone (male or female) would want to lie about themselves online. Do they think nobody will find out... or don't they care? What a waste of humanity. I do enjoy my time online, but I do not lie online... what you see is what you get.

Ah well isn't it the great male hetero fantasy to have two women at the same time...talk about gender confusion! Hetero men are more confused than most I think!

Here comes a really dumb (but perfectly serious) question:

What's different about the women in those ads and the two babes in the header of your blog? I'm a straight woman (hey, nobody's perfect) and I think they are both quite attractive and neither looks masculine.

I think most of those sites are aimed at men. I've always thought that. I read once that women who are in straight porn actually prefer filming the scenes with other women because the men involved are such pigs. So maybe no one said "Eww" afterwards, they just cashed their paychecks and went on home.

I don't understand lying on-line either, but it must pay off at least once in a while. Or the liars hope it will pay off once in a while. I've always thought I'd much rather have someoone pleasantly surprised when they actually meet me than disappointed because I'm not how I portrayed msyelf.

I'm with you on this one, Red. It drives me nuts and, at times, I find them revolting, never mind insulting.

Oh, and the widgets, and applications? I've dumped most of them, and trying, politely, to let everyone know I no longer have the time.

Dang, but real life keeps getting in the way! :)

PS: Do you mind me calling you Red? I kinda like it. Laughs!

theweyrd1, surprise!

tsduff, Yeah, no hidden agendas!

baino, I'm not sure they are. I think they know exactly what they want. They just have no clue how to get it.

heartinsanfrancisco, I see your point. The answer is, in truth; nothing. One of the women in my header claims to be straight the other is bi. The reason I have them there is because they play lesbians on TV, only believably. They both have the edge, that certain something that a "trained eye" picks up on. The girls in the facebook pictures are straight as can be and they look it. They are prom queens and cheerleaders, and they aren't fooling anyone.

citizen, I think you're right about the sites being aimed at men. I'm sure no one expecting to meet a lesbian, would be pleasantly surprised to meet a man instead.

alex, As a fellow facebooker I knew you'd understand! Of course you can call me Red! :)

What the fuck. Am I the only person that thinks, "What you see is what you get?" Balding 58 year old white male with very good sense of perverted humor, in great shape, looking for a woman to leave me alone!

RED MOJO said...

slip, lol. I'm glad you weighed in on this!

Now I'm really intrigued. The whole trained eye thing sounds like a party to which I was not invited.

So I've just thought of a test to find out whether I'm gay or not. If I wanted to do the brunette in your header, I would be gay but since I would like to look like her instead, I'm not.

I'm so glad we cleared that up.

heartinsanfrancisco, There are plenty of gay women who'd like to look like her. I think the key is why you want to look like her, so the women will want you, or the men? I think she's a lot more appealing to women! ;)

She has a sexy street urchin look I have always found appealing, maybe because she reminds me of a good friend I had in college whose father was the Greek ambassador to Mexico.

Her older sister made all her clothes (beautifully) and Nikki would enter a party, pose, and scream "Eighty dollars!"

Everyone was in love with her, guys and girls. I think androgynous is sexy, but I'm glad I'm an honorary lesbian and not a faux one.

What's wrong with masculine looking women?

butch boo, Absolutely nothing. My comment was that although there are feminine looking lesbians, these are not them, and I can't speak for my "honarary lesbian reader's comments".

How do you know I'm not a lesbian posing as a straight guy trying to get straight women into a three-some? ha ha

Butch Boo,

You misunderstood my comment. There is nothing wrong with masculine looking women at all. What I meant was that I agree with Mojo about misleading advertising - ie presenting straight women as faux lesbians.

Some of the coolest women I know are lesbians so I am proud to be an honorary one rather than someone faking it.

The fact that my androgynous friend in college was adorable does not in any way detract from women who are notably masculine or feminine.

I was about to post some snarky comment about this masculine lesbian issue, and then noticed that you too have been remiss in your blogging. I'm a little worried that you clicked on one of those Facebook banners and have not turned off your computer in 3 weeks.

OK, they are posing. But tell me that you wouldn't love to have one of them publicly holding your hand and smooching on you at the next Pride event. (Sans makeup and wearing a tight Indigo Girls t-shirt and jeans.)

RED MOJO said...

VE, You are athletic enough, let me think about that!

heartinsanfrancisco, I know you meant no disrespect. Thanks for explaining to Boo, who is new!

Jonah, I saw you have a new post! I need to get over there!

Anonymous, Okay, I'll tell you, I wouldn't want one of them publicly noshing on me at any event. Sorry.

Baino said...

Hey Red, don't know if you still read this but hope things are well with you. Greetings from Down Under, hope you had a good Christmas and wishing you all the best for the New Year.

Ok. So I read the comments. I just read the post before. I can guarantee that anyone who saw me would never ever think I was a lesbian. Yet I had the one lesbian experience. You can read my blog and see what I thought of that. And Shane is amazingly hot. When asked by a friend who the top 5 people on my bucket list were I thought of all women without even realizing it. Then it dawned on me that I could have said guys but didn't. And I can't think of 5 guys I'd want to do. I honestly can't even think of 1.

Hm...makes me think...

heartacheorheartburn, I admit that there are some lesbians that might escape my radar, in a photo...but in person, not many...at all. In college I knew about most of them before they did! Anyway, yes, a slight chance does exist that one of these women is an actual lesbian, but not all, or most or even half of them. That's all I'm saying, and those adds...I'm not attracted, but men would be. That's my point.

Shane is scorching hot!

It's funny to me. The whole gaydar thing. I think mine is pretty in tune as well. I was at Panera awhile back, and I saw two girls working there that I knew were lesbians. They talked to each other some, but I don't think they were a couple. I couldn't really explain what it was about them that made me think it though.

After reading this post I asked my real life lesbian friend if she could look at me and tell. She said it was too hard for her to answer that question since she knew about everything. She said the same thing you did though. That it is hard to tell with a picture, but that the energy a person gives off in real life makes it obvious. I can agree with that. I've felt it.

And as far as those ads, well I've never seen any lesbian dating site pictures other than the ones you posted so I have no idea. And no, not one of those pictures did a thing for me.
